Twin spins, tripple plays, version comparisons, same title different songs, oh my! This week on The Early Years

Hi, I'm Steve Cutway inviting you to join me for the best music from the 50s and 60s on The Early Years. I have LOTS OF version comparisons, same title different song pairs, a triple play, twin spins and a pair that definitely wouldn't see the light of day in politically correct 2017. I'll also tell you about the new and improved Mushroom FM that kicks off at 9 AM tomorrow morning.
You can contact me any time by e-mail at steve@mushroomfm.com with comments about the show and suggestions for future shows.

Up-up and away tonight on The Early Years

No, not in my beautiful balloon but in Sputnik 1, that launched 60 years ago this Wednesday, Oct. 4. And my show just happens to replay that morning.
Hi, I'm Steve Cutway. I will commemorate Sputnik's launch with some songs that tried to capitalize on it. Only one did and it wasn't about Sputnik. I have more twin spins than usual and a song from March 1952 that spent only two weeks on the chart but probably wouldn't get released at all in politically correct 2017.

"Beautiful" music tonight on The Early Years

Hi, I'm Steve Cutway. "Beautiful" music was made by Gerry Goffin and Carole King and their competitors and friends, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. That's the subject of the broadway musical, "Beautiful" that I had the pleasure of seeing in Toronto a couple of weeks ago before it closed. Tonight, hear the "Beautiful" music performed by the artists that made it hits.
