A Bit of Buffy, A Morsel of Me Music, and More, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Hello! Sara Hillis here, busy ironing my Saturday clothes for tomorrow's dance with Steve Cutway--in which I always take the lead, of course--otherwise known as this week's edition of Come by the Hills, to tell you what's coming up in the three Folkish hours which precede Steve's fabulous show, The Early Years. We'll have a little bit of Buffy Sainte-Marie on the occasion of her retirement from live performing, some Me Music, and a lot of great Folk and Celtic tunes for your enjoyment.

Here's What's Coming Up in the Next Couple of Weeks on Come by the Hills!

Hello! Sara Hillis here to let you know that we have another new episode of Come by the Hills coming up on Saturday, three hours of Folk and Celtic music for your enjoyment. Then, next week, on July 29th, we'll be presenting an encore presentation of the tribute to Gordon Lightfoot, originally aired on May 6, 2023. I hope you'll enjoy both episodes, and I'll talk to you again in August.

Catch Come by the Hills on Saturday at 2:00 PM Eastern, or check out the replay on Tuesday at 5:00 AM Eastern. However and whenever you listen, I hope you'll enjoy it!

The show isn't live this week, and it will not be uploaded to Mixcloud due to licensing restrictions, but I hope you'll enjoy it.

We Go Archive-diving, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Remembering Stan Rogers, this Week on Come by the Hills

Greetings! Once again, it's time for our annual Stan Rogers special on Come by the Hills, the Folk and Celtic music show. This year is especially poignant, as we've reached another milestone since his death on June 2nd, 1983, as this year marks the 40th anniversary of that sudden and sad event. So, in true Canadian folky fashion, we will be playing three hours of Stan's music with exerpts from a documentary called "One Warm Line: The Legacy of Stan Rogers." We'll also have a radio play that he worked on for the CBC as part of the show.

This Week on Come by the Hills, Why Not Take the Road Less Travelled?

Hello! Sara Hillis here to give you the straight (well, more like winding and meandering) goods on what's coming up on this week's edition of Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show! Once again I've got an eclectic collection of music for you, with songs about hard times, time in general, rovers, journeys, roads, and even a few songs about lads in honour of Aladdin the guide dog's tenth birthday which is coming up on Sunday, May 21. I promise it'll be a fun time, and you never know what you're going to hear next. There's even a bit of "Me Music" again this week!

Music, Music and More Music, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Link to the Come by the Hills Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Special

Hello! I had hoped to share this episode on MixCloud, but due to the fact that this Gordon Lightfoot tribute seemingly has too many tracks by the same artist--gee, I wonder why?--it was restricted due to licensing. So, I'm passing along this Dropbox link. I'm doing it publicly because of the special nature of this episode.

Celebrating the Life and Music of Gordon Lightfoot, this Week on Come by the Hills!

On Monday, May 1, 2023, we lost one of the greats of Canadian Folk and Pop music, Gordon Lightfoot. In fact, even to classify his music is a bit difficult. It was distinctly his own, and yet it was also everyone's. It has formed some of the soundtrack to many people's lives including mine, and the more of it I've heard over the years, the more I've come to view Lightfoot as a rarely gifted songsmith of the first order. Thus, I couldn't let this week pass without devoting an episode of Come by the Hills to this music.
