The Festive Folkish Fun Begins, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Greetings! Sara Hillis here to tell you what's coming up on this week's edition of Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show! As it is now officially December, we're getting out the musical advent calendar and opening a few squares to kick off the holiday season in good earnest! And yes, being earnest is extremely important.

Coming up on Saturday at the Described Movies: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Fred Claus, and Pluto's Christmas Tree

From this Saturday at 12am Eastern, that’s 6pm Saturday in NZ, 4pm in Sydney and 5am in the UK, and repeated every four hours throughout the day, it’s the described movies Home Alone 2: Lost in New York from 1992, Fred Claus from 2007 and Pluto's Christmas Tree from 1952.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is a 1992 American comedy film directed by Chris Columbus and written and produced by John Hughes.
It is the sequel to Home Alone (1990) and is the second film in the Home Alone franchise.

Deep Dive stays true blue

This week on deep dive we enjoy the songwriting, singing, and instrumentation of talented Australian country and western singer John Williamson. We have an interview with an old man emu, enjoy a chandelier of stars, meet a Mallee boy and hear about the woes of Bill the Cat.

Hello, hello! Sara Hillis here to tell you about this week's episode of Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show! As Saint Andrew's Day is coming up on November 30, and as Saint Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, it made sense to me to play a relatively all-Scottish show for this week. Along with all the great Scottish music in general, I'm including a specific group of song-pairs with the same melody but with re-purposed lyrics.

I've got a great mix of music for you from artists such as The High Kings and Stan Rogers, as well as a new bit of Me Music. I've got a couple of strange question-and-answer ballads for us to puzzle over, and we'll hear a great song by Eric Bogle about the power of the past. All in all, it is sure to be a great three hours!
