Be Careful! This week, Come By The Hills Burns! Robby Burns that is!

January 25 is Robby Burns day both in Scotland and among the Scottish diaspora. Indeed, many people have taken this farmer poet to their hearts, and Burns Nights are held all over the world nowadays.

In honour of this auspicious day, I'll be devoting an entire show to the songs, poems and life of Robert Burns. We'll hear from many different artists and groups, some Scottish and others decidedly not, and we'll get as broad a sampling as we can of the different types of songs that Burns wrote. I'll also tell some stories related to Robby Burns Days I've experienced in the past, and of course, we'll hear the famous "Address to a Haggis" which is read after the traditional melange of organ meats and oatmeal is piped into the hall at what has come to be known as the Burns Supper. Don't worry though. This is a Haggis-free show.

So, if you're a fan of the songs of Robert Burns, you should be a fan of the forthcoming episode of Come By The Hills. We will again be taking a break from our usual features this week, but I think that I'm justified in doing this since it means celebrating the man who is regarded by many as the national poet of Scotland.

Join me on Sunday night at 8:00 PM Eastern and again on Friday morning at 4:00 AM Eastern, 9:00 AM in the UK and Ireland for Burns Night Mushroom FM Style on Come By The Hills!
