If you're new to Mushroom FM, we'd like to introduce ourselves. If you've forgotten about us while we were sleeping, perhaps because you were a very naughty person and ingested too many magic mushrooms, we'd like to re-introduce ourselves.
We're going to start with the last bit, the FM, first, because we're just weird like that. This is an Internet only radio station, so why the bleep do we have FM at the end of our name, eh? Why? FM, on the old-fashioned radio, refers to the band, and normally stands for frequency modulation. But that's not what the FM stands for in our case. See? It never pays to assume. It could stand for "flaming marvellous". We may have concluded that it stands for "ferocious monsters". But actually, it stands for "fantastic music", because that's part of the Mushroom FM guarantee you see.
You have plenty of ways of hearing your favourite music these days. You probably carry a lot of it with you on a portable device. There are on-line services that let you choose what you hear. But that's not the same as the radio we all used to love. You know, where it felt like the DJ was just talking to us. Where we'd get a big dose of the warm fuzzies when our name was said on the radio and our request was played. Where we'd hear those cool jingles and they'd stick in our head. Where radio was a mixed bag, not devoted to one particular style of music. We'll not only play you good music, but we'll entertain you with fun personalities who know their stuff, and who take pride in high audio standards.
Oh, the Mushroom bit? Well, we're the home of the fun guys, you see. Get it? Mushroom? Fun guys? Well, we thought it was funny anyway.
The Mushroom FM family consists of our great listeners, without whom there'd be no point in it all, and our knowledgeable and friendly team of presenters. We love hearing from you about what we're doing, what we're saying, and what we're playing. The best way to be a part of the conversation is to use and track our Twitter hashtag, #MushroomFM. Of course, sometimes it's just nice to sit back and be entertained, and we love it when listeners do that too.
You can also follow the official Mushroom FM Twitter account for show announcements and other news, or subscribe to our low-traffic, announcements-only email list.
Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you enjoy what you hear.
