Remembering Mary and Melanie this week on the Early Years!

After you've enjoyed Come By The Hills with Sara Hillis, tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac, smart speaker or tablet and join me for The Early Years, where and when you'll hear the best music from the first quarter century of the Rock and Roll era with occasional nods to other decades and genres.
This week, I remember two artists, Mary Weiss and Melanie Safka Checkeryk, who were born 14 months and 25 days apart in New York City, and died four days apart in January. Their musical styles were completely different from each other, Mary's representing the girl groups of the mid 1960s as the lead singer of the Shangri-Las, and Melanie's representing the evolving folk/rock style of the late 60s and early 70s. Mary's musical career lasted five years, Melanie's 57.

Then stay tuned for Dan Sweeney's One Hit Wonders followed by his relatively new show, Dan Sweeney's #1 Music. The Early Years replays Wednesday morning at 07:00 AM, after Deep dive with Graeme Innes and before Anthony Unleashed with Anthony Horvath, only on Mushroom FM, the home of the fun guys, making four decades of magic mushroom memories.
