It's Another John Barleycorn Special, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Yes, this week we're pulling out all the stops on Mushroom FM's Premier Celtic Music Show, because we'll be featuring a number of different versions of a folk song, likely English in origin, which is all about the planting, harvesting and distilling of barley. Barley has been a staple of human existence for thousands of years. It, along with wheat and other grains, was why we gave up hunting and gathering and became stay-at-home farmers first, and then built civilizations.

More Fabulous Celtic Music, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Yes, it will soon be time once again for Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Premier Celtic Music Show! Another week has come and gone with all its changes and challenges, its joys and sorrows, but one thing's for sure. Come by the Hills is still here, still cranking out the Celtic and folky fun for your enjoyment. Our usual features are here, and apart from that, we'll generally be having a great time.

Features are Back Plus New Music, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Yes, it's time once again for Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Premier Celtic Music Show, and this week, we've got all our usual features plus an infusion of new (to the show at least) music courtesy of some generous birthday gifts I've received. We've got a Tom Waits "Celtic Cover" which itself sounds like a folk song, and you never know what else you'll hear, except that it'll be great Celtic music of course.

Rogues and Rovers, this Week on Come by the Hills

I find that summer (or winter, as the case may be I suppose) is a good time for experimenting and letting loose. So, again this week, we won't be relying on our tried and true features on Come by the Hills, but we will be looking at a tried and true theme of a lot of folk music: that of rovers and rogues. Sometimes the rovers are not rogues, and sometimes the rogues are not rovers, but either way, their adventures make for good stories and even better music. So come with me this week on a little journey with some perhaps dubious characters on Mushroom FM's premier Celtic music show!

Great Music, No Features, this Week on Come by the Hills

Mushroom FM's premier Celtic music show is back for another week, this time with none of our usual features. But does that mean the show will be boring? Nothing could be further from the truth! We'll have lots of great music from lots of great artists and groups, some of which music has never been played before on the show.

It's Canada's Birthday, this Week on Come by the Hills!

As July 1 is Canada Day, the date on which the place I call home formally became a nation, I thought I'd celebrate Celtic-style by playing songs from several Canadian folk artists and groups on this week's show. We've got some of the best-known Canadian musical exports as well as some who are known and loved only in this vast and very musical country. So, if you're looking for something Canadian to do this weekend, then look no further than Come by the Hills on Mushroom FM!

it's Jean-Baptiste Day this Week on Come by the Hills!

We are going French-Canadian this week on Mushroom FM's premier celtic music show, because this weekend is when Jean-Baptiste Day is celebrated in Quebec and in other French-speaking parts of Canada. So, I'm picking six artists to which we'll devote a half-hour each, and I know you'll have a great time! Even if you've never heard this music before, you'll understand why it's so amazing by the time the show's over.
