Up-up and away tonight on The Early Years

No, not in my beautiful balloon but in Sputnik 1, that launched 60 years ago this Wednesday, Oct. 4. And my show just happens to replay that morning.
Hi, I'm Steve Cutway. I will commemorate Sputnik's launch with some songs that tried to capitalize on it. Only one did and it wasn't about Sputnik. I have more twin spins than usual and a song from March 1952 that spent only two weeks on the chart but probably wouldn't get released at all in politically correct 2017.
