Coming up tomorrow on Mushroom FM, It's Christmas with the Carpenters!

Tomorrow at noon Eastern, Join me, Sara Hillis, as I take a journey through one of the greatest collections of holiday music ever to grace the world of Pop: The Carpenters Christmas Collection. Compiled in 1996, it features both A Christmas Portrait from 1978 and An Old-fashioned Christmas from 1984. Whichever is your favourite of these two albums, you're sure to find good cheer awaiting you.

Here We Come a-Wassailing, this Week on Come by the Hills

Hello there. Sara Hillis here to tell you about Come by the Hills's three-hour folk and Celtic Yuletide extravaganza which is coming up at 8:00 PM Eastern on Sunday, not too long after the conclusion of the fabulous Festive Fungal Holiday Countdown and Christmas party! By then, I think we'll all be ready for some good mulled wine and some awesome Folky seasonal favourites! We'll take a trip through the Oxford Book of Carols, visit A Child's Christmas in Wales with Dylan Thomas, and wassail, wassail all over the town! Oh, the wassailing, I tell you!

No Sara Smiles Today

Hi all,

Sara Hillis here to tell you that Sara Smiles will not air at noon Eastern today. I'm stuck in a Windows Update process which I foolishly began this morning thinking it would be done in time. I'll be back on Monday as usual. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Lest We Forget, this Week on Come by the Hills

Hello there. Sara Hillis here to tell you about tonight's edition of Come by the Hills, Mushroom FM's Folk and Celtic music show. Of course we'll be playing three hours of great Folk music as usual, but we will focus in on the upcoming celebration of Remembrance Day, which we observe in Canada on November 11. Others celebrate on the Sunday nearest to that date, so we'll be playing songs paying tribute to those who fought and died in previous wars, and perhaps some songs which question the need for war as well. Who knows?

It's All Things Joni--Mitchell, that is--This Week on Come by the Hills!

Yes, the long-awaited first volume of Joni Mitchell's archival material has been released, and I have it! Spanning the years 1963-1967, it covers her beginnings as a Folk musician among other Folk musicians as well as her development as the amazing song-writer we've come to know over the years. If you love early Joni, you'll love this boxed set! I'll be featuring it this week and focusing in on the massive amount of live material included here, and that won't even scratch the surface!
