It's Stuff and Nonsense--well, Stuff anyway--, this Week on Come by the Hills

It's almost time for another three-hour Folkish feast on Come by the Hills! I've got songs about foxes and a tyger (yes it's spelled correctly,) a salute to John Barleycorn and other barley-related matters, and even some songs about love, including one of my absolute favourites by Nanci Griffith. Come along and hang out if you're of a mind!

Catch Come by the Hills live from the 7th floor on Sunday at 8:00 PM Eastern, or check out the replay on Tuesday at 5:00 AM Eastern. However and whenever you listen, I hope you'll enjoy it!

Waltzes, Willows and Other Wonders, this Week on Come by the Hills!

It will soon be time for another fun and Folky episode of Come by the Hills, once again brought to you live from the 7th floor! This week, I've got some waltzes, including one about toilets, (yes, toilets!), some songs about willows, a song featureing a girl with April in her eyes, a sunset hymn and much much more! The best part is that it's live, which means that, depending on my whimsical whims or the whims of you, the listener, things could change at a moment's notice! So, sit back and enjoy the ride!

Revisiting The Road Back Home, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Coming up on Sunday on Mushroom FM, it's time for another encore presentation on Come by the Hills. This week, we'll be revisiting March 9, 2024, where I featured a lovely album recorded live at a couple of summer folk festivals. It's The Road Back Home by Loreena McKennitt! I hope you enjoy this blast from the past, especially since it is Folk festival time in this part of the world.

It's almost time for another fantabulicious episode of Come by the Hills, the Folk and Celtic music Show here on Mushroom FM. As July 1 is Canada Day, I'll be playing lots of songs with Canadian themes and by Canadian artists. Also, I have a couple of requests which have been waiting ever so patiently to be played, so will get to them as well during the show. It promises to be fun as always, and I'm happy to say that I'm able to broadcast live from the 7th Floor this week! So polish off your maple leaves (or is that Maple Leafs?) and Come by the Hills for Canada Day, eh?

Revisiting the April Eclipse on the Occasion of the Summer Solstice, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Hello! As my weekend is going to be a busy and fun one with friends, I won't be able to present a new edition of Come by the Hills for you this week. However, in honour of the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, we'll be revisiting an episode filled with songs about the sun, the moon, the stars and even more, which was broadcast live on the eve of the solar eclipse back in April. So, have fun taking this trip back to April 7, 2024, and next week, it'll be Canada Day on Come by the Hills!

Celebrating a Couple of Irish Authors, Plus Another Live Album by Loreena McKennitt, this Week on Come by the Hills!

It was scarcely three months ago that we were showcasing The Road Back Home, a live album recorded by Loreena McKennitt at a couple of Ontario Folk festivals in the summer of 2023. Now, in honour of the thirtieth anniversary of her 1994 album called The Mask and Mirror and just ahead of the launch of Loreena's Mask and Mirror thirtieth Anniversary tour, she has released a live version of the original album, plus two extra live tracks. These were recorded at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco in 1994 and were meant to be syndicated as a radio program in the US and Canada.

It's Our Annual Stanathon, Celebrating the Incredible Musical Legacy of Stan Rogers, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Sunday is June 2nd, and will be the forty-first anniversary of the extremely untimely death of Canadian folk-singer and songwriter Stan Rogers, who died after an airplane accident in 1983. I'll be playing all the favourites that I can think of, and will gladly play any of yours as well. I'll also be presenting a radio play that was based on one of Stan's songs. Alongside the music, I'll be playing various clips of Stan and others speaking about his songs and his career. It promises to be a really great time! It's certainly one of the highlights of my year.

Getting the Jump on June--Sort of, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Hello! It's time for another blast from the past, due to the after-effects of a crazy-busy weekend, I have decided not to do a live episode of Come by the Hills tonight. So, enjoy an episode that was originally aired on June 10, 2023, and I'll see you next week!

Catch Come by the Hills on Sunday at 8:00 PM Eastern, or check out the replay on Tuesday at 5:00 AM Eastern. However and whenever you listen, enjoy!
